GHANA MUSIC INDUSTRY & MARKET CHALLENGES

Image
Ghana Music Industry (MUSIGA). The top music acts in Ghana has been tagging MUSIGA with a poor performance this recent years. Most Ghanaian's say MUSIGA management is full of money looting, some say the industry does not help them to push their music to reach where the music is suppose to, they've call on MUSIGA president (Obour) but no attention has been given to them from the management and the president. The upcoming acts always talk about same challenges, what they say is MUSIGA is not ready to look through their works. I asked some of them, what need to be done on their behalf to push their effort to reach the mass. What they say is they need a platform or an organization that will help their work. My opinion on MUSIGA: For me MUSIGA is not doing the right work to help Ghana and it's Music Industry. Musician like SHATTA WALE always talk about this but most people do not support his fight for the industry. He always talk about this everyday and I think it's t...

ISRAEL PRIME MINISTER BENJAMIN NETANYAHU SPEECH

Image
The speech from the prime minister of Israel..... Benjamin Netanyahu, with all Glory to God. Mr. Nethanyahu said:  Only 70 years ago! The Jews were taken to the slaughter like sheep. 60 years ago! We had no country. No Army. Seven Arab countries declared war on our small Jewish state, just a few hours after its creation! We were only 650 Jews, against the rest of the Arab world! NO IDF (Israel Defense Army). No powerful Air Force, only brave people with nowhere to go. Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Saudi Arabia all attacked us at the same time. The country that the United Nations gave us was 65 % desert. The country was out of nowhere! 35 years ago! We fought the three most powerful armies in the middle east, and we swept them... yes... in six days. We fought against various coalitions of Arab countries, which had the modern armies and many Soviet weapons, and we had always beaten them! Today we have: A country An army A powerful air f...

The Socio-Economic Need of Ghana

The National President of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) Mrs Cecilia Kwakye Cofie, has asked the government, to as a matter of urgency, release subsidies which has been in arrears for three terms to the school. She said the schools risked being closed down prematurely if the absorbed fees by the government had not reached the schools “immediately”. Speaking at the 68th Speech and Prize-Giving Day of Winneba Secondary School in Winneba on Saturday, she said “the major challenges confronting the Senior High School (SHS) is the arrears and subsidies, release of payment of scholarship to SHS and the renege on the part of the government to supply food to the schools. It was on the theme: “Quality Education: The Socio-Economic Need of Ghana” A school gate, sponsored by the 1995 “6th form” year group was also inaugurated during the ceremony. Following the announcement earlier yesterday that Michael Emenalo has  decided to stand down from his role  as technical director, he spoke to Chelsea TV. Below is what he said in the interview, which can also be watched here...   How difficult a decision was it for you to take? After 10 years here, 10 wonderful, successful years, but very demanding years, it is a very tough decision to decide to step aside. It is entirely my decision and it has come about for very simple reasons. I need an opportunity to get to see my young kids grow and also to step back and reflect on the work that I have done here and the things that we have been able to accomplish together in this great club. So a tough decision to come to, is it something that has been weighing on your mind for some time? It is something I have been thinking about for quite some time now and it is something I have discussed with my ...

DVLA Ghana Is Set To Announce New Drivers License

Image
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has said that it is collaborating with the National Identification Authority (NIA) on the introduction of its new driving license and vehicle registration smart card. According to the Director of Driver Training Testing and Licensing of the DVLA, Alhaji C.W. Musah, it is important for the two bodies to cooperate in order to prevent the duplication of cards. He added that, a synchronization of efforts of the two entities will help prevent the issuance of fake drivers’ licenses as well. “The drivers’ license can be linked with other documents, but the license, by international regulations, is not comparable with other documents. If there are other national documents as in other jurisdictions, you can always link your driver’s license to those jurisdictions, and the licenses we are producing now will link with those jurisdictions. It will help us do a lot of corrections,” he said on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday. “There ar...

The Difference Between HTTP and HTTPS

Many of you may be aware of this difference, but it is worth sharing The main difference between http:// and https:// is all about keeping you secure HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol The S (big surprise) stands for "Secure".. If you visit a Website or web page, and look at the address in the web browser, it is likely begin with the following: http:///. This means that the website is talking to your browser using the regular unsecured language. In other words, it is possible for someone to "eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the Website. If you fill out a form on the website, someone might see the information you send to that site. This is why you never ever enter your credit card number in an Http website! But if the web address begins with https://, that means your computer is talking to the website in a Secure code that no one can eavesdrop on. You understand why this is so important, right? If a website ever asks you to ente...

POSTPONEMENT OF YENTUA DEMO BY THE ALLIANCE FOR RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS

26th October, 2017 The leadership of the Alliance For Responsible Citizens (AFRC) would like to inform the Public that it's "YENTUA DEMO" which was slated for today, 26th October 2017, has been postponed to Monday 6th November 2017. In addition to the new date, a new route has been agreed upon to include, the National offices of the National Communications Authority (NCA), the National Media Commission (NMC),  the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) and Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) among others. The postponement has been occasioned by the unnecessary  interference of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command in our organizational plans and activities. We condemn the palpable attempt by some elements of the Ghana Police force and the Akufo-Addo administration at scuttling and preventing this demonstration. Their shameful behavior convinces us that, the much touted human rights credentials of President Akufo-Addo is nothing but a mere political rhe...

MJtheComedian: The COMMANDER IN CHIEF

Image
The young comedian’s title has been accepted by the patrons of comedy. Credit: Faiba Bernard In a concentrated industry amidst talented artistes, the best way to distinguish one’s self amongst the lot is to be eccentric and or unique with your craft to create an epitome of memorabilia in the minds of your defined audience. Speaking of which, this young chap continually does well to reach the mass patrons of comedy with his very odd show of artistry. Romanus Empire boss is regarded as the emperor of GH Comedy, KSM also affirms DKB as the King and Lekzy does well to reach audience herald as the prince of GH Comedy. Jacinta is seen as the Empress of GH Comedy, and, he list goes on and on. However, we are still witnessing how much deserving they all are of their professional prefix titles. Hence, as the young comedians shows forth their abilities amidst all these self-acclaimed and now ascertained titles, this lad surprised all when he stepped onto the Comedy...

Dr. Bawumia $2.5million AsaaseGPS app Scandal

A Ghanaian researcher based in the United States of America, Kingsley Komla Elikem, has said government did not need to award a $2.5million contract to VOKACOM to develop the Ghana Post GPS app to be used for Ghana’s digital addressing system because that technology already existed on Google. The app is meant to provide an effective means of assigning addresses to every location and place in the country. Mr Elikem, critiquing the Ghana Post GPS app, said the technology already exists and, therefore, government and VOKACOM had not done anything new. Speaking on Monday, 23 October, 2017 on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM, he said: “When the Vice President said we should be expecting something like a digital addressing system that was unprecedented and never seen before, never heard about before, and the USA and UK will have been far behind and we will have been far ahead, it got many of us excited but when it came out, it was necessary to take a look at it and...

E.L (Lomi) Reinventing Ghana’s Most Prized Fashion Treasure

E.L wears Studio One Eighty Nine E.L, the Afrobeats singer and rapper, is picky about his kente. A fabric of the Asante people, one of Ghana’s largest ethnic groups, it has been handmade from silk and cotton on looms with painstaking precision for centuries. And yet, because of its global popularity, the local market has been flooded with poor imitations of the original. “It’s  tradition  in Ghana—buying fabrics, gifting fabrics,” he says. We’re driving (or should I say pacing—the traffic in Accra is infamous) in E.L’s SUV to the Arts Center, a deceptively large market in the heart of the city where he knows he can get high-quality goods. When we arrive, a crowd of merchants surround us, hoping to sell us their wares, but the singer, thin and tall and in big black sunglasses, beelines for a booth where an older gentleman is sitting at a loom, methodically (and surprisingly zippily) weaving fabric. “This guy has the good stuff,” say...
